Traditional or Discount Broker. The name of the game is getting the job done!
Three years ago we opened an office in Ocala,Florida. We were told by the competition we couldn`t survive based on our model of "Full Service Discount Broker". The competition felt the model would never fly, figured we knew "Nothing" about the market and shrugged it off.
They perceived in their minds and their companies "Brain Washing" we couldn`t perform the same job at a discount. Times change, the competition knows better and they`ve learned to respect us based on what the "Clients" told them about us! Word of mouth does wonders for your reputation!
Yesterday,I read a blog where the author writes" " To me, a discount broker is someone that offers a lower commission for lower service. Simple as that. To me, a discount broker is someone that offers less value and charges less for their services."
This is very far from the truth and reality.Like a traditional Realtor there are good and bad professionals. I assure you the product in spite of what you want to believe or you`re told is very far from the truth! The author made an attempt to impress me with his earnings which demonstrates a total lack of reality, he wanted me to know he made $500K in one year! I`m serious, I guess because i`m a "Discount Broker" we`re incapable of earning that type of income, right?,wrong!
I don`t have to impress anyone with my earnings, nor do I care! I`ve been there more than once.Maybe I should begin to write "How to Books" as well. For the record, i`ve been involved in Real Estate for 10++ years!Earning $500K in one year is great,but try staying in this business through the "Good times and Bad" than i`ll start listening to what you have to say! Try doing $15million in sales for 2007 when the Real Estate market was at it`s 20 year low!
A Full Service Discount Broker provides a service,which assists those who may not want to pay "Full Price'. I guess that`s why there are stores like "Target, Best Buy, Walmart" they too seem to provide a service and it appears many "Customers" are happy they fill a gap. You see not everyone wants or needs to be impressed with your fee structure, in the end they want "Results".
Stop believing for a second "You`re offering something we`re not", in many instances it`s not true.Over 50% of my business is "Picking Up" after you the Traditional Realtor who refused to "Go the extra mile".
You`re ashamed to tell the truth to the seller,many times,because after all "That`s exactly what sold them on you in the first place"
We have to set the "Sellers" straight and take them out of the fantasy of "How Discount Brokers" won`t sell you`re home, or how you`re home will be "Blacklisted'.
Sellers want their homes to sell, they don`t care how you or I sell it providing we do what we`re hired to!
You can listen to all the "Motivational Speakers and Authors you`d like" in the end save yourself the time and money and remember this "We`re all in this together", the name of the game is "getting the home to the closing table".
The rest is simply up to you.How and what your charge is your business,nothing more!
